Brahsheedah Elohim went to Onteora High School and was the best female athlete that the program has seen. She graduated in 1999 and scored 1,099 points.
After college Brahsheedah went D1 at the university of Maryland Eastern Shore for 2 yrs. After 2 years at Maryland Eastern Shore she transferred to Fayetteville State University for 3 years. Her first year at Fayetteville she was rewarded The New Comer of the Year and MVP of the team award. Elohim scored 678 total points during her two seasons, with a career average of 12.3ppg. She led the team in scoring in 2001 with 317 points, averaging 11.3ppg and 8rpg. Basketball was not the only sport she played. Brasheedah was addicted to sports because she played tennis and ran cross country as well at Fayetteville. She was the first athlete to compete in 3 different sports in the same year. She won 3 championships in a row at Fayetteville and had recieved MVP of the league, first team, number one singles, and female athlete of the year.
Elohim is in her 2nd season playing professional basketball in Isreal. For the 2007-2008 season she played at Ramla and won the Israeli cup. They got as far as the final four Eurocup. She is currently playing in Isreal again, but for diffrent team in Ashdod.
Vanessa Lawson
Vanessa Lawson and Tay Fisher were the best male/female connection to leave Kingston high school together.
Lawson went to Mount Saint Mary's College where she made a huge impact and accomplished many goals individually and as a team there. As a freshmen in 2004, she averaged 6.9ppg and shot 86% from the free throw line. In 2005 her career just went up hill hill and never went down. As a sophmore she averaged 11.0ppg and went honored Skyline Conference second team for MSMC. Lawson's Junior year was her best year statistically and it showed in her game adn in the classroom. She was named Captain and she embrassed that role to show people how she can perform on the basketball court. Lawson made the Skyline Conference first team, Skyline Conference Player of the Week , Skyline Conference Honor Roll, ECAC Honorable Mention, Marymount Tip-Off Classic All-Tournament team. All of these honors that she earned those two years set her and her teammates up for an incredible basketball season in 2007-2008. She had a great senior year averaging 9.9ppg and scoring 1,000pts for a career at MSMC against Hunter College on January 9, 2008. She was named captain for the second year and was MSMC Co-MVP. She was named Skyline Conference first team, Skyline Conference Player of the Week, Skyline Honor Roll, moved into 7th place on the all-time scoring list at MSMC with 1,171 career points and finished the season ranked 42nd nationally in assist-turnover ratio (1.61). Vanessa Lawson had a great High School and College career and continues to have basketball as a big part of her life in the future, either by playing or coaching.
Vanessa was close to win a high school title, but wouldnt take anything away from winning 4 consecutive skyline conference titles and playing in the NCAA tourney 4 times as well. During the tourney she made it to the second round her senior year, 2007-2008.
Melissa Manzer
Melissa Manzer went to attended Johnston City HS. She was honored to the third Team All State, led Johnson City to 8th Team All-State (junior) and currently holds the record in Broome County for most points per game (32) in a season and most career points for boys or girls.
Melissa was a big time recruit for Siena in 2004. In the 2005-2006 season, Manzer averaged 6.7 ppg and shot 44-47 from the line (93.6%, program's individual season record). As a Junior she was named to MAAC Championships All-Tournament Team, ranked sixth in the conference with 3.28 assists per game, and led the MAAC with an .887 free throw percentage. Manzer also finished 15th in the league averaging 10.7 ppg. In Manzer's senior year she led the MAAC in free throw percentage (.895), while ranking second in three pointers made (71) and ninth in scoring (13.3). She finished her career ranking amongst the all-time Siena leaders with 964 career points. Her career free throw percentage of 90.6% is tops in program history and her 162 made three pointers are fifth best.
Melissa Manzer is currently playing professional basketball in Demark.
Heather Stec
Heather Stec is by far the hardest worker on the Women's Siena Basketball Team. As a Sophmore at Siena, Heather Stec led the team and ranked second in the league averaging 8.0 rpg and averaged 6.5ppg. As a Junior she started the last 19 games of the season and increased her averaged by 1.0 point averaging 7.5 ppg. Stec also led the team with 8.6 rebounds per game and was named to MAAC All-Academic Team. In the 2008-2009 season, Stec was name captain of the team hoping to lead them to MACC Championship despite key injuries throughout the year with teammate. Her leadership and work ethic went on to be even greater than the following years shooting 50% from the field, 70% from the free throw line, 8 reb and 14 ppg. She also had a career high 30pts and 18 reb he senior year against Loyola earning MACC player of the week 3/2/09. At the end of the 2008-2009 season, she also earned the honors of WBCA Honorable mention for the month of February.
Merrick Volpe
Merrick Volpe went to Clyde-Savannah, which is a small school located in the fingerlackes where she put up tramedous numbers as a female basketball player. She was moved up to Varisty as a 7th grader at the end of the season and from there her career went up hill. She ended her career in high school scoring 2,134 total pts. As a senior Volpe led Eagles to 21-4 record and averaged 26.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, 5.4 steals, and 4.1 assists per game. She also earned First-Team All New York State Class C as a senior and was selected to play in McDonald's All-Greater Rochester Exceptional Seniors All-Star Game.
Her first 2 years at Siena she was a great posed backup PG who they needed to handle the ball and hit big shots when needed, but In the 2008-2009 season Volpe stepped up to the plate being the starting PG for more than half of the games. She shot an incredible 42% from 3point line and averaged 6ppg. She also had a career high 19 pts against Iona.
Abby Brenkach
Abby Brenkach is a very talented basketball player who played Varsity basketball for 5 years at John A. Coleman High School. She finished her career with 1,450 total points putting her as one of the top female scorers in school history. During her senior year in 2006, she averaged 20ppg, 14rpg and 3.5bpg. She went to play D3 basketball in Boston, MA at Emmanuel College.
During Brenkach freshmen year she struggled due to an injury, but after working on her game over the summer and being ready for the 2007-2008 season, things changed. She averaged 10ppg, 8rpg and 3bpg. She was a huge part of the Saints success. They made it to the Sweet Sixteen and finished the season 29-2. She worked even harder over the summer and hopefully she can continue her success individually so the team can have another fantastic season.
Charlieann Chacon
Charlieann is a very hardworking and fearless individual who went to Deer Valley High School in Glendale, AZ. Her team won the 5A Division 2 State Championship in 2006 and she broke every record at her school. She was a 4 year Varsity starter and had a career 1,679pts, 515 rebounds, 574 steals and 415 assist. At the end of her Senior year she was nominated to be a McDonalds All-American.
After high school Charlieann attended Junior College at Mesa Community College. The team won the Region 1 State Tournament in 2008. She was a major impact in their success winning the MVP of the tournament award. As a freshmen she averaged 10.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 3.7 Apg, 3.4 spg and as a sophmore she increased in every statistic averaging 11.1 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 4.8 apg, 3.8 spg.
She is now at Siena College hoping to continue her success individually and make a major impact to the program entering her Senior year (09-10 season).
